What happens if you violate your DUI supervision?
Okay so I am on supervision for having a DUI and I am done with it in January. Recently I got arrested for public intoxication I know stupid of me. I am wondering what will happen now? It was in a different county so maybe they won’t find out in my county? I’m from Illinois.

Possible they will revoke or extend your supervision.
Call your PO now. Most will have the system set up that they get an automatic notification whenever a police officer runs your name. It won’t look good if they think you are being dishonest with them.

You’d be a fool to try to hide this. They will find out and it will go MUCH harder on you. If you disclose it immediately, you will create the image of someone who accepts responsibility for their actions.
As far as what you’re looking at? Definitely a longer period of supervision – it sounds like you need it. Possibly drug/alcohol counseling or treatment. It really depends on what you’ve already been required to do. But OMG, another alcohol-related offense? I’m glad you weren’t driving, but it looks really bad that you weren’t able to even complete your supervision without getting into more trouble with alcohol. You might get another chance, but you should probably avoid alcohol at least until you are done with your supervision.

Illinois will find out. A DUI in Illinois is a state charge. It’s a serious offense in Illinois and they give out a lot of them.
Chances are that you will have to buck up for a lawyer. You might have to pay some additional fees. You might have to do a short time in jail or a couple of weekends. Your “supervision” status might be turned into supervised probation.
The problem is that in Illinois Court Supervision is designed to keep a conviction off your criminal record so that your license doesn’t get revoked. If your supervision is rescinded because of this ticket then the DWI may go down as a conviction and then your license will be revoked.
It seems like double jeopardy. The deal is that part of the consequences for DUI conviction in IL is a license revocation. Their theory is that if you stay out of trouble for a while you can avaoid the conviction get your license back. Right now your license is just suspended on an administrative order because you probably failed the blood alcohol test. If they cancel the supervision then you will have to deal with the consequences of a criminal conviction for DUI. That includes revocation.
Revocation is a huge difference from suspension. Once revoked they will do things like take your plates off your car. Not allow you to purchase new plates. Refuse your right to register a car in your name. Getting reinstated after a revocation is a real difficult thing in Illinois. You have to go a hearing. There is no guarentee that they will give it back. In fact 90% of first time applicants get turned down. The general rule is that you will not get a license back in IL until at least 10 years of squeeky clean living. They will check everything you have done in your life during the revocation period. They want to know marital status, children, work history, criminal convistions in all 50 states, alcohol or drug arrests with no convictions, and and all driving offenses. Any alcohol related offense will be a big problem.
Driving on revoked license in IL is a felony. The can take your car on the spot. Each time you get caught driving on revoked you might as well add another 10 years to the revocation. IL is in the top 5 for the strictest DWI laws in the country and they may be number one. If you go to IL department of corrections you will see that the jails are packed full of DWI offenders and repeat offenders. This thing can just keep snowballing for many years to come. Each time you get caught driving you are in bigger trouble. You will never receive a license in any other state with a revoked or suspended license in Illinois.
You do not want to get your license revoked in IL. It will cost you up to $15,000 and 10 years to get it back. Think of all of the money you have already spent. Double that at least if your license goes revoked, especially if you plan of driving on a revoked and expect to not ever get caught. Those Nazis set up road blocks and safety check points everywhere and every weekend. You will get caught eventually. Now they have cameras that scan license plates for people like you! Can’t drive Moms car either. They’ll take that too and charge her thousands to get it back. She can also face criminal charges if she allows you to drive it while she knows you are revoked.
These people in Illinois have thought of every angle. They have a freakin law for every possibility. I recommend you move to a big city with a good subway system. You won’t be driving if you get revoked.
It’s confusing I know. These are things they don’t always tell you. Big surprises for anyone who gets a DWI in Illinois. The laws change every year too. Sometimes twice a year.

No, they will find out, they’ll run your record. If they do anything or not, well its up to them, but I’ll tell you, its very very likely. Man, please make better decisions for your sake as well as everyone else’s. No one wants to share a night out on the town with someone who can’t control themselves in public or on the road.
